This series of portfolios is dedicated to the first ever complete examination of the photographic oeuvre of the noted Russian Constructivist artist and photographer Alexander Rodchenko. Produced under the supervision of the artist's estate, this portfolio series is created for museum, corporate, and private collections.
Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956) was a consummate artist in all media: his painting, design work, and photography were fundamental to the founding of abstract art in Revolutionary Russia.
Each photograph in the portfolio is produced from the original negative, printed by Rodchenko's grandson in the original darkroom in Rodchenko's atelier in Moscow. Photographs are mounted on handmade archival, lightfast paper identical in appearance to paper used by Rodchenko in the 1920's. The portfolio box is handmade with a Constructivist designed cover.
Portfolio 1, entitled Classic Images, was published in 1994 and includes 30 photographs in an edition of 35 plus 8 publisher's copies. Includes a portfolio box, colophon, and illustrated end papers. $30,000 USD. Contact the gallery for further information.
